Seasonal local organic is the penultimate. The ultimate is growing your own food organically -- and sharing with others!

Re: Veritable &#8220;Wal Mart of Produce&#8221; Discovered in Chicago, Pineapples for $1.49!

Also wanted to say that *seasonal* local organic is probably the ultimate!

Re: Veritable &#8220;Wal Mart of Produce&#8221; Discovered in Chicago, Pineapples for $1.49!

"Buy local *organic*" is best, in my opinion. After that, I normally will buy nonlocal organic (e.g., bananas), then local nonorganic, and then (relatively rarely) nonlocal nonorganic. Adding to the complexity, there are some things I do not buy nonorganic at all (e.g., apples). And then adding to the complexity again, you have fresh vs. frozen (e.g., my preference for frozen organic strawberries over fresh nonorganics). Luckily, pineapples aren't a high-pesticide crop, so I do occasionally buy nonorganic ones -- and especially when they're 99 cents.

Re: Veritable &#8220;Wal Mart of Produce&#8221; Discovered in Chicago, Pineapples for $1.49!

Thanks for the information. I go to Chicago all the time to visit my son, but I've never seen that store! Watching that video made me all jittery with excitement about the prospect of seeing so much produce in one location.

Re: Veritable &#8220;Wal Mart of Produce&#8221; Discovered in Chicago, Pineapples for $1.49!

Another question...why are local apples $1.49 a pound and bananas that are imported 59 cents? Agribiz price supports, third world farm labor, and chemicals that the US exports but are illegal to use in the US. <br>Buy local, think global. Eat seasonal.

Re: Veritable &#8220;Wal Mart of Produce&#8221; Discovered in Chicago, Pineapples for $1.49!

Bethany, it's like 10 degrees here, and it's windy!!!! I am an out door person, camping and hiking. Origionally from California where I was used to doing these things whenever really. Once summer started you could count on being able to enjoy this without a problem. Oregon on the other hand, is green for a reason. :) I just don't do rainy stuff all year. I must have too much of California in me. I love the sun and heat. I would rather have to water my garden.

Re: Update on Our Move

You're not allowed to complain about the weather. That is great you will be visiting the Windy City! I ordered some wind over the past several days here in Pittsburgh, not knowing that this would get you primed for where you are headed, esp. this time of year! I remember driving in to visit friends in the early 70's and hit a great big snow storm when I almost reached my destination. Now, don't let that scare you! I lived in Barrington which is northwest of the city, if I remember correctly. I know the museum is really nifty and same with the zoo (but scratch that one off your list for now). It IS a great city to visit, so enjoy! I remember there was a great pizza place and steak house, but those would not be on my list today! Wish I could help out more! Any rate, enjoy yourselves and have the greatest time ever!

Re: Here&#8217;s the Deal: It&#8217;s *Always* a Journey

Your follow up comment took the words right out of my mouth - it is true - waiting for your life to change so you can finally enjoy it is a bummer. But acknowledging the painful emotions we experience oftentimes while going through difficult changes and experiences is ultimately also an essential component to healing and self discovery.

Re: Here&#8217;s the Deal: It&#8217;s *Always* a Journey

Hi Jim,<br><br>What you are saying makes perfect sense to me. I just wanted to add here, in response to when I said this ...<br><br>"...And maybe, after facing each of those issues head-on, taking them to their utimate conclusion, just maybe the real fun begins — the true enjoyment of the journey."<br><br>... that a valid alternative viewpoint could very well be: "You don't have to wait until you've faced each of those issues head-on, having taken them all to their ultimate conclusion, in order to begin enjoying the journey. On a very deep level, it's all just a big game and nothing really matters in the grand scheme. So, why not just choose to be perfectly happy all the time?!" <br><br>Yes, that's very true, and I do hope that people savor and enjoy *every minute* of their raw journey to the fullest extent possible. Maybe what I was getting at was in fact a fleeting glimpse of something even more unusually transcendent, though -- some "next level" of existence as a sensed possibility. Maybe it's totally subjective, representing something I need to personally experience before attaining. Anyway, I suppose I just wanted to point out that I didn't mean to imply that people shouldn't or couldn't truly enjoy their journey until some specific point in it. (I'm actually straining to remain brief here, as I could literally go on for hours on this topic.)

Re: Hopefully Pure Jeevan Loads a *Little* Faster Today!

Thanks Patricia, I will check Judy's book out, I remember when it came out just never did a read thru.. I've been working with (besides Jim & Wendi's e-books), 1). Green for Life - Victoria Boutenko, 2). The Raw Foods Diet: the vital gift of Enzymes - Jim karas,Carolyn Griesse & 3). Rainbow Green Live Food Cuisine - Gabriel Cousens, and was just curious what other folks take were on the pros & cons of combining different types of Raw Foods, again thanks for the tip...
